Many of you have asked what we’re doing in response to the appalling events in Ukraine. The first thing you should know is that several Ukrainian craft brewers have reached out to us to ask for help.

Over the past few days, BrewDog has managed to speak over Zoom to people who work for craft brewers based in Ukraine. The stories they have told us are both heroic and horrific. One minute they are doing what they love best – making great craft beer – the next they’re turning their brewhouses into makeshift bomb factories and going off to fight.

Talking to these people, as well as to our distribution partners in Ukraine Silpo and Wine Bureau, makes you feel humble and powerless – it’s so hard to know what to do, but we must do something. In fact, we’ve decided to do two things:

  • We haven’t sold any beer to Russia since the invasion began and we have told our distributor that we are formally suspending supply of beer to the country indefinitely.
  • We launched a beer called United for Ukraine. All revenue from this beer (not just profits – all revenue) will be donated to the  Disaster Emergency Committee’s Ukraine Crisis Appeal – this is being used to buy essential items like food, medical supplies and blankets. The beer is currently out of stock in our online shop, but you can still get it in some of our bars!
